Secrets of Success
in Network Marketing -
Part 1
Welcome to the
Success in Network Marketing blog series. You are here because you want to
be successful. Or you just want to know what it takes to be awesome in this
industry. In either case it is results that we are looking for and the results
that are desired are not coming as quickly as they were promised. You’re
frustrated because you’ve been sold this dream of freedom and having your own
business. You’re doing what the person who brought you into this industry told
you to do which is to recruit and sell. Yes, it seems simple enough, but the simple
plan of recruiting and selling doesn’t seem to be working as well for you as it
is for your recruiter and your wondering why?
So you ask your recruiter, “How can I achieve the same results
that you do?” and they reveal to you the numbers. Yes, the magical numbers.
“Oh, you have to call so many people a day and offer the opportunity and/or the
product to them and that’s it. Then you’ll create an income just like me.” I
know this because I’ve been in network marketing companies and I’ve had the
same questions and I’ve received the same answers. I understand the
frustrations of not getting the results you want when you desire success in network marketing.
When we get this knowledge of the numbers we start to
immediately apply them to our business and for a short time we start generating
a better income. This makes us feel as though we have obtained success in network marketing. But, then
we start to see our profits dwindle and we’re looking at our bank accounts and
back office wondering what in the world is happening? We then go back to our
recruiter and ask what happened. They tell us a plethora of answers anything
and everything from you didn’t offer the right product, you haven’t recruited
enough people, oh you haven’t bought this product yet, and the dreaded “that’s
the way of the numbers” answer - for every few recruits or customers you gain
you also lose some recruits or customers. And so the cycle continues and we
offer another product, we recruit more people, we buy the product we hadn’t
bought, and we do more numbers so that we can try to retain more people. In
some cases this works and we see better results, but eventually we come to
terms with the fact that it is still not enough to get us where we really want
to be.
You can obtain Success in Network Marketing and get
the results you desire.
Whether it is to be like your recruiter, have the freedom in
your own business as you desire, or to run your own business full time and quit
your day job. You can have success and retain more customers and business
partners. (Notice I said business partners and not recruit.) If you are
dreaming of true results within your network marketing company then let’s start
obtaining those dreams.
The first secret to success in network marketing is to change your mindset of getting
recruits. Stop getting recruits now. Start gaining business partners now. Why
business partners instead of recruits? Because you don’t want to be a recruiter
and you don’t want to have recruits. In my most humble opinion, a recruiter is
one who sells you an idea of joining something and that’s it. However, if you
are looking for business partners you desire to become a mentor, a sponsor, a
coach of another or future mentor, sponsor, or coach. These are individuals who
not only care about your personal results in their organization, but they also
care about you obtaining your dreams and goals. They don’t continue to sell you
on products and numbers like recruiters do. They offer advice on how to grow
not only in your business, but also as a person. Having success in network marketing is about
more than having a surplus of money in your bank account. It includes caring
about the people that make up your team/network.
How can obtaining other mentors, sponsors, and coaches give you success in network marketing? It will
explode your business by giving you a team of leaders that are like minded.
They are looking to help and inspire others just like you. Instead of just
looking for a quick buck they are looking to build a network of people that
build, inspire, and empower each other. When you start to understand that in
any business, building relationships is what it takes to get you the success
you desire you’ll start to see the results of helping others. With network
marketing, when you focus on your people that are also focused on people you
begin to see results.
I learned this secret of success in network marketing when I
joined empower network; although it is not a network marketing company, their
affiliate program has some of the best mentors and coaches in the world. In my
old network marketing company I was told the numbers and I did them to the best
of my ability and their training materials always said in big bold letters
“RECRUIT! RECRUIT! RECRUIT!” and that’s exactly what I did. I made a profit
from selling and recruiting a couple of people, but I never really learned the
difference between a recruiter and a coach.
Now I know that relationships in building a business are of
extreme importance when obtaining success in network marketing.
Start being a mentor, a coach, and/or a sponsor today. Show your current and
potential partners that you care about their success in life. Maybe you’re
overdue to follow up with them to see how the marketing plan that was designed
is working out for them. Ask them how they intend to use your business to
obtain their dreams whatever they may be and start planning to help them work
towards their goal. The first secret to Success in Network Marketing is now
